What is Cardiac Arrest?
Sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness.
Cardiac arrest usually results from an electrical disturbance in the heart. It’s not the same as a heart attack or a stroke.
The main symptoms are loss of consciousness and unresponsiveness.
When someone is experiencing cardiac arrest, the only way to preserve their life are by administering CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) for defibrillation. An AED is necessary to save the life of a patient experiencing cardiac arrest; CPR is insufficient. According to studies, employing an AED during a cardiac arrest is ten times more successful than administering adrenaline and eight times more successful than performing CPR.
What Are the Dangers of Cardiac Arrest?

- Can happen to anyone at any given time – EVERYONE is at risk for cardiac arrest. It doesn’t discriminate between race, gender, religion, healthy, unhealthy, overweight, normal weight etc.

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that can be used to treat a person whose heart has suddenly stopped working. This condition is called sudden cardiac arrest.
